President Russell M Nelson taught that the Lord loves effort, because effort brings rewards that can’t come any other way. Do you think that when we’re walking the path of discipleship and trying to become more like the Lord Jesus Christ that God is angry with us when we make a mistake?
Or is he proud of us for getting up, repenting and moving forward?
When my children were learning to play instruments, there were a lot of sour notes and, in the case of the few flute player, sometimes no notes at all, but was I upset with them for making mistakes? No, I was proud of them because they kept trying!
Every day they got a little bit better and eventually they could play beautiful music. Heavenly Father is a perfect parent. As we stagger and stumble and fall along the path of discipleship, he is proud of us when we get up, dust ourselves off, and keep on going. Because the Lord loves effort! And that’s today’s reason to smile. :)
